Panbio Dengue Early Rapid Inverness Medical Innovations has added an exciting new product to the Panbio dengue product range.

The Dengue Early Rapid is a dengue NS1 antigen immunochromatographic assay. It is for the qualitative detection of NS1 antigen in serum, used as an aid in the clinical laboratory diagnosis of patients with clinical symptoms consistent with dengue fever. The Panbio Dengue Early Rapid should be used in conjunction with other dengue serology tests.

Increase your diagnostic sensitivity by up to 30%

Use the Dengue Early Rapid test in conjunction with the Panbio Dengue Duo Cassette to increase your diagnostic sensitivity by up to 30%.

By combining antigen and antibody testing, you can bridge the diagnostic gap. In a study conducted in Malaysia8, the combination of the Dengue Early Rapid test with the Dengue Duo Cassette produced a sensitivity of over 90%!

The results are shown below in Table 1.

Detect Dengue Early

NS1 detection can help to diagnose an active dengue infection from the very first day of symptoms as the dengue NS1 antigen can be detected in serum from the very first day that fever appears.1,2,3

Earlier diagnosis of dengue allows earlier implementation of supportive therapy and monitoring. This reduces risk of complications such as DHF or DSS, especially in countries where dengue is endemic.6

"Most patients seek medical care three to six days after their symptoms being. During this time IgM antibodies may not be present, or may not be at detectable levels.7"

Excellent specificity

Detection of NS1 can also provide a specific diagnosis of dengue infection.1,2,3,4 This is especially valuable in areas where flavivirus serological cross reactivity could confound a diagnosis.5 In studies conducted in Malaysia and Vietnam8, the Dengue Early Rapid test showed excellent specificity.

The data is shown in Table 2.
